This blog today is all about plugs. This is a plug:
This also is a plug:
And finally this is a plug for a book I just read and loved:
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
When it comes to children’s books, I mainly read Australian authors. This is not so much a choice, it’s just something I have always done. However, the cover of this book intrigued me and the Australian edition also has a note of endorsement from Martine Murray (and I LOVE her books). So I bought it and I can tell you it was just delightful. I can see why they quoted Martine on the cover– their characters and style of prose are similar, but what sets it apart is the plot. The narrative is not linear and there is puzzle to solve, making this book completely addictive reading as you try to piece it all together.
I don’t like to say too much about a book because I think people should read it for themselves, but I certainly thought this one was sweet, compelling and I still am thinking about it, long past the last page. Age wise, it’s probably appropriate for 10+
So there you go, that’s the last plug.
